The American Family Insurance Data Science Institute (DSI) is honored to announce its inaugural cohort of faculty and academic staff affiliates representing colleges, schools and departments across the UW–Madison campus.
“When we launched the application for the DSI Affiliates program, we anticipated that we’d have about ten people in our first cohort,” says Kyle Cranmer, David R. Anderson Director of the DSI. “We received an overwhelming number of high-quality applications, and we had to rethink our strategy for growing this program. As a result, we have a phenomenal first cohort of 39 DSI Affiliates.”
DSI Affiliates are actively engaged in foundational or use-inspired research, aligned with the DSI mission and vision, that is relevant to data science. Affiliates contribute to DSI research and operations, and they have access to DSI facilities, computing, and other resources.
“While the Data Science Institute is relatively new to campus, we’re growing rapidly,” says Cranmer. “The DSI Affiliates will provide the fabric that connects researchers across campus with the new capabilities brought about via data science.”
